I am currently exploring my experience of famous sculptures through oil painting. These masterpieces carry powerful energy, movement, and take your breath away in settings designed for the colossal marbles. On canvas, I play with line and color, extending the figure’s reach into its surroundings. My paintings are representational, but melding the sculpture and background is purposeful. The longer you look, the more you see. These statues transfix us and we return again and again, each time, hoping to carry more of the experience home. My paintings are passports from my travels; communicating the emotional impact of sculptures and architecture continues to be a fun and colorful exercise.
I live and work in San Francisco, California; coexisting with a meadery, half a dozen new paintings, and shrinking wall space. My “stained glass” style continues to inform most new projects and its influence can be found in my entire body of work.
